THE WORKSHOP
Kent says pregnancy is an ideal time to treat a woman constitutionally.
Yet, as homeopaths, we so often shy away from birth, feeling ill -
trained, inadequate, and fearful of taking on such an awesome
responsibility.
The goal of these workshops is to encourage you to feel comfortable and
competent in taking on pregnant patients.
It is not only an important part of being a homeopath, but one which can
also BUILD a practice.
PART ONE - SEPTEMBER 13 and 14, 2008 -
VICTORIA BC
Topics to be discussed this weekend will be fertility issues and
conception; miscarriage; pregnancy; labour and birth.
PART TWO - (LOCATION AND DATE TBA)
We will examine issues arising during the post - partum period (mother
and baby); breastfeeding; and vaccination.
Pat will teach appropriate materia medica,
share some cases, and will discuss case management and practice issues
specific to working with pregnant patients.
BIO:
Pat Deacon, RSHom (NA & UK), HMC has been in full time homeopathic
practice in England and in B.C. for 13 years.
She is an accomplished teacher, having led hundreds of homeopathic
workshops for both the general public and for midwives and doulas. She
held tutorials and served as a supervisor for several colleges while in
the U.K. and currently is the lead tutor for the Luminos Foundation
Course. In addition, she consults privately with homeopathic
practitioners on their difficult cases.
Her particular interest in birthing started with the arrival of her own
three children, two of whom were born at home with midwives.
She also served from 1981 - 1985 as a staff member of the Vancouver
Women's Health Collective, dealing primarily with issues related to
contraception and fertility.
Treating women during pregnancy and maintaining close relationships with
midwives and doulas has been a focus of Pat's since she began practicing
homeopathy. |

Homeopathy for
Midwives and Other Birth Attendants
Next Class TBA
This workshop will provide an introduction to:
-
Homeopathic medicine in general - its philosophy and history.
-
Homeopathy's usefulness during pregnancy, labour, and post- partum.
-
Information on the 18 remedies in the Helios Homeopathic Childbirth kit (and a few more).
-
Where to go for homeopathic resources for your clients.
-
Information on how to start using some of these remedies in your practice.
Note: you will NOT be a homeopath at the end of the workshop, but you will have a few remedies in your tool belt that you can start using with your
clients. This is a basic workshop geared to women who haven't taken one with me before. You are welcome to take it again - if you feel like a refresher ! If there is enough interest, I could do a Part 2 for people who have already taken
this course. PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
I will have Helios Childbirth Kits and Ainsworth's Mother and Child Kits (42 remedies -
childbirth plus some other basic acute remedies) for sale on the day.
Please bring some case examples (if you have any) of places where you felt stuck with a client or where you where you (or your colleague/ mentor) tried a
homeopathic remedy and it failed - or it worked! I like to keep the information as practical as I can and to teach from real case examples.
Please print
and send this PDF application form (workshop fees in CA$) to Pat Deacon |

Homeopathy
First Aid Course
Next Class TBA
"Homeopathic First Aid" is a chance to understand homeopathy - its
history, philosophy and to practice better. It is also an opportunity to
learn about a group of remedies that you can use at home to assist
yourself, your family, and friends in emergency situations. These are
remedies which will speed up the healing process, cut the pain, and
sometimes avoid the need for medical intervention both now and in the
future. It does not involve any traditional first aid. Please let me know if you are interested ASAP since I am limiting the class
size to 6 people.
If you would like to be on the mailing list
for future classes, please contact Pat. |

Advanced Practitioner Training Course Supporting Homeopaths

|
The Advanced Practitioner Training Course (APT) offered by Pat Deacon RSHom(NA) and Jude Dawson RSHom(NA) provides Homeopaths and 4th year students with the tools to feel confident in prescribing and to build an enjoyable and lucrative career as Homeopaths.
Register here.
Both Jude and Pat very much value their training in the U.K. where homeopathy has been around longer, is better known and is more widespread in its use. Clinical experience also plays a larger role in homeopathic
education in the U.K. Pat and Jude would like to bridge that gap between what the Canadian colleges are able to offer (given the problems of geography and the shortage of experienced supervisors) and what they experienced in their UK
training.
They will share with you the things that have helped build their practices and those of other successful homeopaths they have known.
For example, Jude will talk about her 8 week programs - weight loss, skin problems, depression - a novel way of attracting new people to homeopathy. Pat has developed special relationships with midwives and
doulas and has expertise in treating pregnant, labouring and post-partum women and new babies. The APT course includes:
In the APT we will...
share hints, tips and techniques for developing a successful business
examine perils and pitfalls to avoid in practice
problem-solve confusing cases and difficult patient relationships
confront practice problems and develop strategies for dealing with them and
create new networks for support
The beautiful Okanagan valley provides the setting for this dynamic course. Space is limited as we feel a small group with personal attention and a safe
space for discussion is more beneficial for the attendees. Read the testimonials. For more information CONTACT: Pat Deacon 250-492-0336 Jude Dawson 250-804-0104
